Come together! The MEA-NJ is sponsoring a fantastic social event at our October meeting. Who better than Ingrid Clarfield, our long-time member and 90th Gala Honoree, to inspire us with her wisdom and wit at the start of our 91st year? Traditionally, October is our potluck meeting, but this time, we’ll be inviting members from other piano groups around New Jersey to enjoy our potluck luncheon and be motivated by Ingrid. To that end, we encourage you to sign up to bring a dish, platter, baked goods, etc. RSVP to Hospitality Chair Karen Dann Sundquist: email@example.com
I am thrilled to announce that the Board of Directors has approved the formation of Composers’ Corner, a group expressly for MEA composers. If you compose, join us; share your thoughts and your music amongst like-minded colleagues. Often, so much of what we do as musicians is in isolation. Composers’ Corner is an opportunity to change that! Let’s decide together what the goals should be for Composers Corner. The initial informal bi-annual meeting will be at my home in Springfield on Thursday, October 25 at 10:15 AM. I look forward to hosting you soon! RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org
We are so fortunate to be involved in the arts! September is National Piano Month — a special time to sharing our love of piano with inquisitive students. Take a look at the magnificent photos from the Metropolitan Museum’s comprehensive online series (there are 3 parts to the series) and marvel at the progression of our instrument: www.metmuseum.org/blogs/of-note/2014/national-piano-month-1. Please consider sharing this with your students, too.
Come together! The strength of the MEA is maintained by the efforts of dedicated members. The bond you feel toward the MEA is directly connected to your level of participation. There are plenty of volunteer opportunities for you to get involved. Let us know what you’re good at and what you may enjoy doing to lend a hand. The MEA will benefit, and so will you!
